What is Bible Journaling?
When I first heard of this product line I thought it was pretty self explanatory. Illustrated Faith is a way to better define and reveal your faith by using different art techniques and media’s in your bible to help you remember scripture or make that piece of the bible more personal to you.
Why do Bible Journaling?
I am visual learner so to just read something it sometimes does not stick in my memory at least not long-term. I never want to rush reading the bible just to have it read and done for the day so I can tell people that I read my bible. I enjoy studying it and meditating over it to gain a better understanding of what I read. Sometimes I will re-read a scripture all throughout my day until it finally clicks to what its saying. With bible journaling I’m able to sit down and make each page personal to me and as I design how I want each page to look the words repeat through my head and it makes it easier for me to remember the scriptures. Also, its great when you can turn to that page in you bible and see the effort you had in making that page special to you. The memory of why you put so much time into that page will come flooding back along with the verses you read. Each sticker I put down or each paint mark I put on each page is a reminder of the Savior who took the time to create me. I take this time to soak up His word and to serve him!
For Bible Journaling you just need your bible or a journaling bible (either one is fine). If you do not have a bible or would like a special one just for journaling, DaySpring Inc. has a wonderful selection you can check out here. I am currently using one my husband bought me for bible study as a gift.
Just Some Basic Supplies
You can use just some basic supplies like water color paints, colored pencils/crayons, stamps and stickers of your choice.
Illustrated Faith also has a wonderful selection of bible journaling supplies to help get you started. I personally am really loving the Illustrated Faith Devotional Kits. They come with so many products and each kit comes with a devotional booklet to help you get started in the word along with questions to answer to let you dive deeper.
Below is a video of how I used the New Devotional Kit from Illustrated Faith in my bible for the month of July.
Thank you again to DaySpring Inc. for sending me this wonderful kit to review and show to our readers!
