Looking at the name of the blog, it may not immediately be apparent what we are trying to achieve here. Honestly we are still learning and exploring what we can do and accomplish. However, the one thing that we do know is the foundation for why we created this blog in the 1st place.
Too many times in life, we are faced with situations where we have a rough choice to make. These decisions are sometimes monumental and life-changing or as small as how many scoops of sugar to put into your drink and everything in between. Every decision we make has some bearing on where we end up and who we become in the future. When dealing with these situations requiring a tough decision, we often over react very quickly and things escalate to a point where damage is done. We have learned that we must slow down, think and proceed carefully. Wisdom comes into play because we need to listen more than we talk, and think more than we act. This doesn’t mean that we are to be paralyzed and silent… Quite the opposite, we (Jason & Steph) believe that we are to weigh the choices carefully and act in a way that honor’s Christ and benefits others. Mark Twain said “The difference between the almost right word and the right word is really a large matter. ’tis the difference between the lightning bug and the lightning.” We need to surround ourselves with wise counsel, and gather as much information and others’ experience as we can. Sometimes the outcome isn’t happy, because as much as we would like to we can’t control everything or anyone else. To keep from making more rash decisions that don’t end peacefully, we must seek wisdom to make the best choices in life.
So what does all that have to do with Brewing?
We both really enjoy a hot cup of coffee on a cool morning together. Back when we first started this site, we sat for hours trying to think up of a name that captured our hearts for this blog. We wanted to share the life lessons we’ve learned with other young couples (primarily) and anyone else who it can benefit. The brewing part of the title comes from the fact that we don’t like instant coffee. The idea that we live in a microwave and Tylenol “fix it quick & pop a pill” society bothers us. During the brewing, you have time to wait to fully enjoy the aroma of the coffee being prepared for you to drink. The result of this is a delicious, steaming hot cup of sleep banishing and life sustaining coffee. The idea is that we want to “brew” wisdom. We want to take the time to consider, reflect, be honest with ourselves and grow more every day.
