An Introduction from Steph
“Get all the advice and instruction you can, so you will be wise the rest of your life.” -Proverbs 19:20 (NLT)
Greetings, My name is Steph! I am a Christian, a stay-at-home wife, seeking wisdom an constantly learning. I believe as a homemaker-stay at home wife, my husband needs to be the head of our household. It is a must if you want a Christian marriage/home to survive nowadays. Marriage isn’t honored to the biblical standard it used to be. After Jason and I got married we didn’t all of a sudden know exactly how to live in perfect harmony. Our goal is to have a perfect marriage, but we still aren’t there and I dare say we never will be!
A God-Seeking Wife
We were both raised in conservative Christian homes. Our families growing up faced many trials that taught us both important lessons. One thing that we saw modeled, and have taken into our own marriage is an orderly household. In the workplace, there are bosses and employees. However, there is only one CEO who has the final say on major decisions. If the employees do not follow or respect the leader’s decision and leave the business it will eventually fail. I’m not saying that wives are voiceless, second-rate passengers in a marriage; but our husband’s are absolutely the leader of our homes. We as women become a leader when we raise our children and mentor and guide young women to be wives one day.
The Godly man should have the final say over his home and family. He is not to be controlling of his wife, but when problems are facing the family the husband must be a man of God and the provider to know and do what is best for his family. Currently, we have not been blessed with children but that time will come, and I can’t wait to start posting blog posts about lessons from being a mom. Right now we are preparing for children by making sure our physical, spiritual, financial, mental and emotional health is ready to welcome children into this world, our home and our lives.
Being a Stay-At-Home Wife
So how is it possible to be a stay-at-home wife and survive on one income today? With the tumultuous market and our culture’s obsession with consumption it’s not easy. All without daily/weekly/monthly/yearly financial gifts from family and benefits from the government? Well let me tell you how my husband and I do it. We work together to build the home God has planned out for us based on his instructions and wisdom found in the Bible. We do our best to live our lives according to his words and commands. Too many people view the bible as a strict whip to beat you in line when you’ve messed up, leaving a bitter taste. That’s not at all how the word of God lives in our home… in our home it’s a guard rail to keep our family, finances, health and relationship from careening off a fatal cliff.
Our blog is to show and share what works for us as a young married couple. We are not here to judge or be preachy or anything like that. If we can give you some of the wisdom that works for us, we hope that it works for you and your family. We are a Christian couple who seeks wisdom from the Bible and we apply it to our lives.
