An Introduction from Jason
“A house is built by wisdom and becomes strong through good sense. Through knowledge its rooms are filled with all sorts of precious riches and valuables.” – Proverbs 24:3-4 (NLT)
My name is Jason. I am a Christian, a husband, seeking wisdom and constantly learning. One thing I have learned, is that I don’t want to live my life the same way as “everyone else”. I am not pursuing the “American Dream” with it’s 5-figure credit card debt, upside down mortgage, new cars every 3 years and the latest and greatest tech at my fingertips all financed down to a low low monthly payment.
A Look Back
Rewind a few years ago, and I was heading down that path with my wife. You see, I wasn’t leading my household the way that a husband should. My wife looks to me, and trusts me when it comes to the “big” decisions. Only a fool would ignore his wife when considering life’s biggest decisions, but when it comes down to it someone has to act. I chose poorly the first year or so of our marriage. Our credit cards were maxed, and the bank account was down to pretty much $9 (payday couldn’t have came sooner…) When the credit card was declined at not one, but two store’s… alarm bells went off in my head. Drastic actions were taken, and a few years later, we’re blessed to have all that we do.
The defining moment, at least so far, in our marriage was when we stopped seeking after the world’s definition of wisdom, wealth and worth, and we started looking at God’s definition of wisdom, wealth and worth. We can’t hide who we are, and we wouldn’t ever want to. This introductory post, and pretty well all the posts going forward are going to, in one way or another, tie back to the Christian faith. Our goal isn’t to shove religion or our beliefs down anyone’s throat. There’s entirely too much of that ignorance to go around and we’ll not have any part of it. We simply want to share what we’ve learned, what we’re doing, where we’re going, what we’re facing and our ups and downs in this life through the eyes of a young, married Christian couple.
What we do, what we say and what we believe will not work for everyone and we get that. However, if any of our mistakes, experiences, learning and choices can help anyone else who may be in a similar boat as us, that’s our reason for writing. Thank you for sticking with us through our first entry, and we look forward to penning many more to come!
